Caving

There is about a kilometre of cave system to explore with a variety of passages. Most is quite large and small spaces can be avoided, although if you want to try out some smaller stuff it can be found…

There are a variety of route choices, these photo’s are of Entrance One, where you can go the low way, the high way or a combination of both! Above and Left – The ‘low way’. Below – The ‘High Scary way’. Leading from Entrance one out into the main chamber, it is a high level ledge traverse where you have to step across the 10m drop in a couple of places! Good for getting through with dry feet on flood days, or for those who just like being up off the ground a bit!

Beside Entrance Two, which opens directly into the main chamber is a great area for getting some good photo’s in among the formations. Then its down the ‘Slot’ abseil (below), or alternatively scramble back down the boulders and follow the stream, into section two…

Section Two. A well decorated streamway with plenty of glowworms when you turn your light off. A great place to stop for a snack in the dark, then get eyeball to tail with the glowworms and see where the light comes from! Their “fishing lines” can also be seen up close (below right). We can often find the other three stages of their life cycle, eggs, pupae and adult flies (below centre), in the same spot.
